Rainy weekend at home is when this pendant light feels most natural in the kitchen area. I like it most when the room is full and nobody is thinking about the lighting, and that is what makes it feel like part of the house. It has quietly become part of the way the room feels at the end of the day, and that is what makes it feel like part of the house. I notice it most after everyone settles in and the room stops feeling like a project, which is when I know the choice was practical as well as visual.

The change is not dramatic; the breakfast area simply feels lived in rather than staged with this pendant light there. We finished this part of the room around our housewarming, and the space finally stopped feeling temporary.
