After finally getting the last boxes unpacked, this pendant light was one of the changes that helped the new place stop feeling temporary. The change is easiest to appreciate at the end of the day. We finished this part of the room around our anniversary, and the space finally stopped feeling temporary.

This pendant light ended up being the detail that made our kitchen area feel finished.

The room passed its real test when relatives came over for a weekend meal, and the room worked exactly the way I hoped it would. The room felt most convincing when friends came over for dinner; the room felt ready without any extra styling. It feels at home in the room rather than like something added just for show, which mattered more to me than making a dramatic statement. The room feels good both when it is quiet and when it is full of people, and I like that it works without asking for attention.
