By Saturday the end of the evening, the room has usually settled in; I worked into the update this chandelier to give the room more presence without making it formal, and the space feels more complete without feeling overdone. A few weeks of normal use made me like the room more than I did on day one.

An unexpected visit tends to make the house feel more alive; one of the best signs that this chandelier fits our dining area is that my brother noticed the room first the next evening.
